My name is Georgie and my pronouns are they, them, theirs. My approach to therapy is client-centered, humanistic, and strengths-based, and I offer play therapy for children. I provide a safe space for you to explore your authentic self, and I will join you on your journey of discovery to see where it takes you.
I am especially equipped to aid those who are gender questioning, transgender, or nonbinary. My services include providing referral letters for hormones and/or surgery, navigating family dynamics, handling social stressors, and increasing your understanding of yourself. I can help with the coming out process, methods of disclosing, and exploring social and medical aspects of transitioning. I also provide resources and referrals to other professionals and community resources to best support you in your process.
Education and background:
B.A., Psychology from Westmont College
M.A., Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of San Diego
Before I began my work in private practice, I completed 3 internships. At the Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center in Santa Barbara, CA I worked with sexual assault survivors on a hotline and on a walk-in basis for in-person counseling. At Center for Community Solutions in San Diego, I counseled a diverse group of clients, including children, who were survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. My last placement was at Casa de Amparo in San Marcos, where I led group and individual counseling sessions for foster youth aged 13-18 in a group home setting.
I am a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), as well as the subdivision for LGBT issues in Counseling (ALGBTIC). I have been inducted into the international honor society for counseling, Chi Sigma Iota (CSI), and I belong to the California Association for Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (CALPCC).
Please feel free to contact me to begin your journey in therapy. I am most reachable by email (firstname.lastname@example.org), but you can also call at 858-304-0928.
As a registered associate, I am unable to bill any insurances, but I am able to offer a very affordable rate. I look forward to hearing from you!
