Insurance
I now accept all major credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, American Express) and electronic checks (using routing and account numbers) for session fees, co-pays, etc. Ask me how to sign up today!
I currently take the following insurances: Aetna, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, and TriCare.
While having insurance that covers mental health/behavioral health services is often financially beneficial to individuals and families, there are a few very important things you should know about using insurance to cover therapy. First of all, insurance companies often want justification for therapy services, and therefore require that I give you a diagnosis that meets their standards of "medical necessity". This diagnosis often becomes a part of your permanent medical records. Such a diagnosis can at times interfere with future insurance coverage.
Secondly, privacy can be compromised by using your insurance. In order to bill your insurance company, I need to provide them with your diagnosis as well as dates of therapy sessions. Many insurance companies also require progress updates and treatment plans to be provided. Additionally, while I can control the privacy of my own records, I cannot guarantee how private the records of your insurance company will be.
For these reasons, paying "out of pocket" has benefits. I offer fees based on a sliding scale so money does not have to be an obstacle to being able to pay out of pocket.
Fees
If you will be using your insurance to pay for therapy, the only fee you are responsible for is the co-pay, if one exists. If you receive a statement from your insurance company showing a discrepancy between what I billed and what they pay me, do not worry. You are not responsible for the difference.
If paying “out of pocket”, how much you will be paying for therapy will be determined prior to or during our first session. If you cannot afford my full fee, you will be able to pay based on my sliding scale.
All fees are due at the end of each session or group. If not, please be sure to mail the payment soon after the session.
Sliding Scale
My standard fee per 50-minute session is $150. However, if this presents a financial hardship for you or your family, I do offer a sliding scale. To promote fairness and consistency, I will need to follow the below grid based on your yearly salary and number of members in your household (who rely upon the household income). In order to qualify for the sliding scale, you will need to present me with a recent pay stub at our next session.
